The Quartet’s work was interrupted during the Second World War, although it gave some concerts then, with a varied roster of players.
Its official year of founding is 1946. In its early years it was also known as the Fine Arts Quartet of Chicago and the Fine Arts Quartet of the American Broadcasting Company.
